Tyler Puts on a Goalie Clinic for Kincardine Hair Connection Atom LL1
Kincardine Hair Connection Atom LL1 travelled to Ayton to play against Hanover on Sunday, 31Jan2010 hoping to put in a better effort than in their previous outing the day before.
The first shift of the game found Hanover buzzing around Kincardine’s end. Michael (#13) did a great job pursuing the puck and covering open players in the slot to foil several attempts at net. In the second shift, Payton (#8) got hold of the puck and fed a nice break-out pass up the middle to Darian (#3) who was stopped. Later, Kincardine ended up with a three person rush up the ice, with Colton (#14) feeding a pass through the crease that just missed both Payton (#8) and Darian (#3). Tyler kept Hanover off the board with six stellar saves in a row to close out the period and keep Kincardine even with Hanover.
From the face-off starting the second period, Tyler (#1) came up with another great save stopping a three-on-one chance. Cameron (#6) was there to clear the rebound out of harm’s way. Kincardine then had a chance when Darian (#3) shot the puck off a face-off at the net and Payton (#8) got robbed on the rebound. The play then spent most of the rest of the period in Kincardine’s end with Tyler (#1) making spectacular saves, including stopping a forward cutting across the crease all alone. While shorthanded, Tyler fought through traffic to make a butterfly save with the rebound going to a forward at the side of the net. The puck was hammered at the net and Tyler somehow managed to get across and keep the puck out. However, there were just too many shots and Hanover came out of the period up 0-3.
Kincardine regrouped for the third period and again applied some pressure on a power-play when Darian (#3) took a shot that was stopped, followed it into the corner and brought it out for another shot that just missed being tipped in by a sprawling Colton (#14). Martin (#2) cleared the puck out over the blue line to Darian (#3) who beat the defence taking it hard to the net but was stopped. Ryan (#16) going through the lines did a good job chasing the puck down at both ends of the ice. Isaac (#9) played a solid game along the boards. Isaiah (#5) took the puck down the wing and into the offensive zone. Defensively, Brendan (#10) played a one-on-one perfectly while shorthanded and then Tyler (#1) made another stop from directly in front of the net. Matt (#12) took the puck coast-to-coast making a nice backhand that was stopped. Tyler (#1) stopped another breakaway and Brendan (#10) coming back hard cleared the rebound. Late in the period Kincardine let up again and allowed Hanover to score a final two goals to end the game 0-5.
