Kincardine Hair Connection Atom LL1 Bested by Kincardine LL2
Kincardine Hair Connection Atom LL1 ran into a red hot Kincardine Meridian LL2 team on Sunday, 21Feb2010. LL2 had just come off a loss to Normanby in overtime, after having led the game until the last one and a half minutes by two goals. The LL2 team were hungry for the win against LL1. Would LL1 be able to match their intensity?
The game started off well for LL1, with pressure deep in LL2’s end for the first two shifts. Darian (#3), Colton (#14) and Payton (#8) buzzed around the net. Then Isaac (#9) and Isaiah (#5) each had shots at the net with Ryan (#16) doing the forechecking. LL2 then turned on the jets and put pressure on Kincardine’s defense, which was short two regular defenders. Brendan (#10) played several two-on-ones well forcing shots from the outside. Ariel (#11) played the front of the net well, covering LL2 forwards. Both Michael (#13) and Martin (#2) stepped up to play defense and did a great job chasing down the opposing forwards. Tyler (#1) stood tall in net again, making several outstanding saves. However, LL2 proved to be too much to handle, scoring three goals in one and a half minutes towards the end of the first period.
LL1 closed the gap some when Payton (#8) chipped the puck out. Darian (#3) picked it up, beat two defenders to the outside and found the five-hole. Less than two minutes later LL2 scored to re-establish their three goal lead. Early in the third period, Darian (#3) again broke away down the wing, firing a shot top shelf over the blocker to narrow the lead to two goals. This score stood for most of the period until the final four minutes when LL2 scored two goals in about one minute to put the game out of reach. Congratulations to Kincardine Meridian LL2 for their first win of the year.
