Meridian Playoff Action
Submitted By Kim Masur on Saturday, February 20, 2010
On Friday Feb 12 Kincardine hockey fans travelled to Tiverton for exciting playoff action.  The kids delivered an exciting game.....

The game started fast & furious with excellent puck handling by all who touched the puck. Tiverton got their first goal with 8:10 left in the first period. Fortunately,  Kincardine didn't get themselves down and netted a goal of their own with 7:36 remaining in the first period. The play which lead to the goal began in Kincardines end with some fancy stick handling from Sam Colhoun which resulted in a shot on net but the goalie stopped it, however Georgia Fields was standing in the right place at the right time to scoop up the rebound and shoot it in over top of the Tiverton goalie.

Score 1-1 Kincardines goalie, Liam MacKinnon made fantastic saves one after another on a team from Tiverton that would not let up. Liam played solid between the pipes.  Brydon Nikolic, Austin MacArthur, Brady Masur, and Mark Yetman played great, and kept that puck out of Kincardines end.  In the second Kincardine tried to take the lead with some awesome forward maneuvers by Tyler Dahmer, Brady Masur, Austin MacArthur and Josh Farrell and terrific defense by Conner Dixon, Julia McGregor, their play plus others helped Liam keep his focus in the net through out, unfortunately Tiverton scored goal number 2 with 4:05 remaining in the second.

Going into the third period down 2-1 Kincardine was looking for the equalizer as they took it to Tiverton for most of the period but it was Tiverton who ended up getting a goal with 8:08 left to play.  Despite being down 3-1 all of the Kincardine players never gave up and showed they were not a team to be taken lightly heading into the playoffs.  Coach Dave named Brady M, Georgia F and Liam M the 3 stars of the game!  Great effort by all!
