WOAA Regular Season Champs
The Kinucks faced off against TCDMHA on January 23 in a battle for the WOAA regular season title. It was a "must win" situation for both teams to claim the first place spot, and Kincardine prevailed with a 5-0 win.
The first period was scoreless, but five minutes into the second period Jessica Satosek broke the deadlock with a goal assisted by Kristy Parsons and Courtney Surridge. With the Kinucks' confidence boosted, Cassidy Colhoun soon made it 2-0, finding the open corner with the help of Laura Mangotich and Surridge. With less than a minute remaining in the second period, on a passing play from Kristen Derksen and Parsons, Surridge fired it top shelf to end the period up by 3.
Two more goals in the third period, Surridge from Derksen and Vanessa Hodgins followed by Jordan Murchie from Madison McFadden and Colhoun, sealed the deal. Great goaltending by Morgan Baker and a very strong defence kept TCDMHA off the scoresheet.
The Kinucks will begin a best of 5 playoff series against Walkerton this coming weekend. Keep up the great work, girls!
