Midgets Hit by Cyclone
The first home game of the year for the Miller Insurance Midgets had them facing the same team that had eliminated them last year in the playoffs 3 straight games, the listowel Cyclones. This year’s team was determined to send the message that they would not be an easy 2 points. Both teams came out strong with Kincardine holding an edge in shots only to have the Listowel netminder shut the door time after time. Hard work paid off as Kincardine got the first marker on a power play of the stick of Jacob Siekierski with helpers going to Dylan Sayle and Mathew Osadca.
The lead held until near the end of the second when Listowel found the back of the net off a screen shot through a maze of legs. The tie held with both teams exchanging chances until the final two minutes when the listowel got the go ahead off a blast from the point. The 2-1 loss was bitter for the boys, however knowing they can compete with one of the better teams in the division was a positive and something they can build on. (Oct 20, 2009)
