Miller Midgets Finish Strong
Submitted By Ivan Mangotich on Monday, January 11, 2010
With the sick bay empty with the exception of Garret Satosec the Miller Midgets had a full squad to face the equally fully staffed Mitchell Midgets for the final tilt of the regular schedule.

The First period was uneventful as both teams were playing a disciplined hard working game that resulted in gooseggs at the end of the first frame. This pattern quickly ended as Mitch Dickson opened the scoring with a wrister top shelf from the slot with the assists going to Dylan Sayle and Cody Bowes. Mitch struck again off a break away with the stretch pass coming from Sayle deep in his own end. Sam Gurbin picked up the additional helper after some hard work in the corner. Ozzie Osadca put the game well in hand with cannon from the blue line with the assists going to Dickson and Chris Beatty. Mitchell replied with a single to end the second but from the increased physical play the boys would need to tighten up the chin straps as the rough stuff was about to escalate in the third.

A steady parade to the penalty box by Mitchell opened the door for Kincardine to test the Power play and they didn’t disappoint getting two more, with a cute wrap around by Cody Bowes and a step in from the point shot by Josh MacDonald, with assists going to Phil Bernath, Brad Mangotish, Karsen Ellis, and Jory Norman. Mitchell managed to get a single in the third past Easton Battler who stood on his head several times to preserve the healthy lead, the final score Kincardine 5 Mitchell 2.

Kincardine will now face Mitchell in the first round of the WOAA play downs starting Feb 15, from the tone of this game it will be a series that you won’t want to miss.   (Jan 11, 2010)
