Midgets Start Playoffs

The first game of the WOAA palydowns had the Miller Midgets facing an old foe the “Mitchell Hawks” and the 1st game left no one disappointed as the action was end to end and a hard hitting affair.


Kincardine opened the scoring when Brad Mangotich stepped in from the blue line and sent a laser to the back of the net. Assists went to Cody Bowes and Mitch Dickson who worked hard in the corners to get the puck back to the blue line. Karsen Ellis quickly followed with an unassisted goal after forcing a turnover deep in the Mitchell end. Goal 3 for Kincardine saw Dylan Sayle dangle a group in front of the net to float one over the goalie and have it land inches over the line. Assists went to Phil Bernath and Chris Beattie who paid the price in the corner to get the puck to the front of the net. Sayle scored again after crashing the front of the net and finding a loose puck at the side door , Bernath and Josh MacDonald worked the puck on the parameter to get the assists.
The second period saw no scoring as the Mitchell team settled into a defensive mode and kept the Miller Midgets at bay.

The third opened with Mitchell scoring on a penalty shot and a power play to get within two. Kincardine opened the three goal lead again as Kerson Ellis got his second of the game with a power play cannon from the top of the circle with a tic tac toe feed from Beattie and Jacob Sekierski. Mitch Dickson finished the scoring with an empty netter with assists going to Jory Norman and Sam Gurbin. Game two will be here in Kincardine on January 22nd at 8:00 and it is guaranteed to be entertaining.   (Jan 16, 2010)
