Midgets Sweep Meteors
Submitted By Ivan Mangotich on Sunday, January 31, 2010
The Kincardine Miller Midgets completed the sweep of the Mitchell Meteors with two decisive wins to finish the series.

Game two in Kincardine had the boys come out strong from the opening faceoff, smothering the Mitchell defense with an overpowering forcheck which forced undisciplined penalties. Kincardine capitalized with crisp passes and cannons from the point to take and early lead which increased as the game progressed and Mitchell continued to take less than intelligent penalties. Kincardine skated away with the decisive 7-1 victory, goal scorers for Kincardine were Jacob Siekierski with two, Jory Norman, Josh Gauthier, Josh MacDonald, Cody Bowes and Dallas Perkin, assists going to Mathew Osadca, Cody Bowes, MacDonald, Phil Bernath , Chris Beattie and Mitch Dickson.
Game three in Mitchell saw the well prepared Kincardine team pour it on with tape to tape passes, a hard forecheck and a go hard to the net attitude. On the rare occasion when the Meteors generated a presence in the Kincardine end the defense stood strong to make smart plays and clear the zone. The trend from game one and two continued as the score widened the parade to the penalty box by the frustrated Meteors increased. Kincardine maintained focused and showed tremendous strength in not getting caught up in the extra, non hockey activities. Goal scorers for Kincardine were Cody Bowes Phil Bernath, Mitch Dickson, Dallas Perkins and Brad Mangotich with assists going to Osadca, Bowes, Ellis and Brady Collins. In both games the Kincardine net minders Keegan Woodman and Easton Battler were exceptional, shutting the door with big saves at critical times which frustrated the meteors and gave confidence to the Miller Midgets.
With the return of several injured players and goals coming from a variety of players it appears the Miller Midgets are peaking at just the right time and will be making a strong run for the WOAA title.  (Jan 31, 2010)
