KINCARDINE NOVICE TEAM ARE AYLMER TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS !!
Submitted By Ryder Colhoun on Monday, April 04, 2011
The Home Hardware novice team travelled to Aylmer for a tournament and accomplished something they couldn't do all season, defeat Mt. Forest in the Championship game.

The team played Harrow in the first game of the tournament Friday morning, and came out flat, dropping a 5-2 decision.  Goal scorers were Liam Colhoun and Zach Wall, assists went to Jordan Moulton and Wall.

Game two was Saturday afternoon and we played the host team Aylmer.  The kids came out with a better effort and skated away with a 5-2 win.  Goals came from Wall (3), and Colhoun (2).  Assists went to Robert McGregor (2), Georgia Tanner (2), Darcy Scott (2), Moulton, and Kaleb Smith.

The third game was played on Sunday morning, and again the team played well enough to gain a 6-2 victory over Paris.  Scorers were Wilson Shipp (2), Colhoun (2), Moulton, and Wall.  Setting up these six goals were Colhoun, Shipp, Claire Hunsburger, Moulton, and Wall.

With a little assistance the Kinucks were headed to the championship game against a Mt. Forest team that they hadn't beat all year.  Looking like a determined bunch the score was 1-1 after the first on a goal by Wall.  The Kinucks really came out hard in the second leading 4-1 after two periods.  Goals were scored by Wall with two more for the hat trick, and Colhoun, who scored on a breakaway with one second left on the clock.  Assists went to Smith (2), and Colhoun.  Mt. Forest came on very strong in the third period but could not get the tying goal past Rose Pande who was outstanding in the final frame to preserve the 4-3 victory.  The coaching staff and management would like to congratulate the team on an excellent weekend and they certainly thought it was a perfect finish to a very successful year!
