Kincardine Legion Kinucks put out by Mitchell Meteors in 4 games
Submitted By Barry Jones on Sunday, February 27, 2011
Game 2 was in Mitchell Tuesday night. A beautiful top shelf goal by Bradley Pickett unassisted started the game.  The second goal was scored by Ethan Long assisted by Brett Colhoun.  Kincardine then had to kill a penalty with great defensive moves by Kurt Dunsbier and Andrew Potter but Mitchell scored just past the two minutes making it 2-1.  First period ended 2-1 for the Kinucks.

The second period began with penalties for both teams, no goals scored.  Kincardine appeared to be running out of energy in the second requiring some superb goaltending by Craig Luinstra.      Another penalty for Kincardine puts Luinstra to the test again, who was helped by Andrew Potter and Owen Jones.  Kincardine got another penalty at the end of second and the period ended with 50 seconds left to kill.

The third period started with a power play goal for Mitchell making it 2-2.  Once again play appeared to be in more in Kincardine's end.  With a minute and a half left time out is called, period ends 2-2, on to OT.

Luinstra is saved by his post once and follows up with some necessary saves but eventually they got one by him winning 3-2 in OT.

Game 3 in Mitchell again starts in Kincardine's end but the Kincardine Kinucks got the first goal scored by the Burrows, Long, Potter line.  End of first 1-0 for Kincardine.

The second period has its share of penalties with the Kinucks surviving a 5 on 3.  Good goaltending by Ethan Primeau helped out a lot.

Mitchell came out strong in the second scoring in the first 15 seconds making it 1-1.  Kincardine got another penalty and Mitchell capitalized on it making it 2-1.  Even though the goalie was pulled Kincardine was unable to get it back making the series 2-1 for Mitchell.

Game 4 against Mitchell at home is do or die, the first period definitely started off with Kincardine on the offense.  More shots on Mitchell’s goalie than Kincardine’s and Ethan Long gets the first goal making it 1-0 at the end of the first period.

The second period started with Mitchell fighting back, and Kincardine getting a tripping penalty.  Mitchell used their power play to tie it up 1-1.  Kincardine continued to put the pressure on the Mitchells goalie who continued to stop their attempts.  Luinstra got a chance to stop quite a few more shots than in the first period but Kincardine is unable to get another one by Mitchell’s goalie, end of second still 1-1.

The third period started off slower than the first two with Mitchell getting the first goal making it 2-1 for the visitors and putting the pressure on Kincardine to do or die.  Kincardine tied it up 2-2 but Mitchell got another one in and finished it up with an empty netter making the final score 4-2 and putting Kincardine out of the OMHA playoffs.

Overall the team played well but was just unable to get the wins, well done boys!
