Awesome Effort By All
On Dec 4th Kincardine Sobey's Pee Wee girls played Blyth/Brussels at home. The last time these teams met it was a close match, so the crowd was expecting some good hockey.
In the first both teams seemed equally determined and strong, but Blyth lead the scoring with one in past Kincardine's goalie Sophia Tomaini. The Kincardine girls kept their chins up and with Billie Patterson & Brooke Storey's fantastic defensive skills the Blyth team was kept at bay. With many attempts by Madi Johnston and Rainor Kuz the Kincardine team knew it was only a matter of time before they made it on the score board. Finally near the end of the first period Kelsey Padfield passed the puck to a very focused Christen Bell, and she snipped one in, making the score 1-1.
The second period was fast and furious with Jordy Surridge and Alice Thorpe pinching the Blyth team away from Sophia's net. Korrine Mangotich saw an opening in Blyth's end and she shot, with Madison McBride coming back with an excellent rebound, making the score 2-1 for Kincardine. The Kincardine girls appeared to be tired, and Sophia had some action in her crease, but Mackenzie Nashiem, and Georgia Fields refused to allow Blyth to shoot on our net, both girls retrieved the puck and had many of their own shots on net, exhausting the opponents goalie. Team work helped Tori Hodgins slip another one by their goalie, 3-1 for Kincardine.
The Kincardine girl's could not rest in the third period because Blyth was not giving up easily, but Makayla McGregor assisted with Madison McBride's second goal of the night, making the final score 4-1 for Kincardine. The crowd was satisfied with good hockey, and entertained with an awesome effort by all, great job girls!
