Novice Reps Win Championship in Overtime.
Submitted by our famous reporter Keith Colley AKA "Weafdog"

The Home Hardware Novice Reps won the Consolation Championship against the Listowel Cylclones on Saturday 2-1 in overtime. With the series tied 1-1, game 3 became the final game of season – win or lose

After a strong motivational speech be Coach Mark Long, the Kinucks started with fire and determination. Goalie Jamie Brock made some great saves early as the first period ended in a 0-0 draw. The defensive effort of Brennan Long, Bryce McFadden and Travis Anderson cleared the Kincardine zone.

The second period was one to remember for Christopher Coady. After receiving a pass from Emma Swift, he broke down the right side of rink across the blueline and buried a wrist short past the Cyclone goalie. With the Kincardine fans cheering, Coady’s smiled could be seen around the rink. Listowel had their chances, but Jake Colley stopped three consecutive one-on-one’s playing his best defense of the year.

The third period was filled with scoring chances as Jacob Bishop and Austyn MacArthur had rush after rush. The lone goal, however, would be by Listowel to tie the game 1-1. Brock made another great save on a Cylcone break away with just moments left in the game.

In over time the Kinucks didn’t keep their fans waiting long. The puck slid out to the point where McFadden let a booming slap shot go. The Cyclone goalie came up with a big save but couldn’t control the rebound. Swift was waiting and shot, but the Cyclone goalie came up with another pad save. Kendon Zettle would not be denied, however, and he tucked home the rebound under the sprawled goalie and the game was over. This was a game to never forget.

Missing in the game was Darian Kuz who has had a great season playing left wing scoring a lot of goals and working hard in his own end.

The Novice Reps have had a great season with many ups and downs. It was truly great to witness the young Kinucks work so hard in their last game and be rewarded with the overtime victory.

All the parents would to thank the hard work and dedication put forth by the coaching staff, manager and trainers. They include: Mark Long, Matt MacArthur, Jim Coady, Rob Bishop and Dan McFadden. Also, a great thank you to team sponsor Home Hardware.
