The final series of the WOAA playoffs had Kincardine once again facing off against
Goderich Wednesday March 18th during the March Break.  The first game was played at home and the team was down three key players and had some help from AP Jessica Dales.  At the end of the first Goderich was up 1-0 even though there had been a couple of great tries by Brett Burrows.  In the second period each team was given a penalty and Goderich was able to score during the 4 on 4.  Ethan Long was able to get the score up to 2-1 before the second period came to an end however.  Five minutes into the third Long was able to score again with an assist from Rhys Vollmer.  Vollmer was on fire and scored the third goal unassisted making it 3-2 Kincardine.  With some help from Dales Long was able to earn the hat trick and score the fourth goal for Kincardine.  Although Goderich was able to score with two minutes left in the game, Kincardine still came out ahead 4-3.  Rhys Vollmer definitely deserved “player of the game” as he was all over the ice.

The Kinucks travelled to Goderich for the second game and most of their missing players back in the lineup.  This game was a real team effort with everyone contributing to the play and eventual win.  The team started strong with a goal from Long assisted by Vollmer and Gavin Reardon, followed almost immediately by a second goal from Long assisted by Danny Skinner and Kurt Dunsbier.  Although Brett Colhoun and Jakob Dunlop has a great try at the end of the first, they were stopped by the goalie making it 2-0.  Long scored again in the second period assisted by Bradley Pickett and Brett Colhoun.  Burrows made a real effort to score but was stopped every time.  The team was able to kill a penalty in the second with great saves by Ethan Primeau and awesome defense from Ben Netzke and Raven Sharp.  Goderich was finally able to score in the third period making the score 3-1 for Kincardine.  This was followed up by an excellent rush on the net by Skinner, Dunsbier and Long but no goal.  Long got the fourth and final goal with help from Netzke and Sharp and Kincardine finished off the game with a penalty kill and a power play.  Excellent playing from Dunlop in both.  Final score 4-1 Kincardine Kinucks and WOAA Champions.  Great season boys!!
