Article submitted by Jen Cook
The Kincardine Legion Peewee boys were crowned the “A” Division Champions in the Huntsville Tournament played over three days Nov. 14 – 16.

Game one on Friday had the Kinucks matched up with the Cooksville Phantoms.  The Kinucks came out flying the first game which ended in a 3-0 score.  Goal scores were Riley Cook, Payton Dunlop and Sam Wilson. Assists went to Keegan McLelland, Brett Carter, Shaine Vollmer, Ethan Skinner and two for Garret McFadden.  Seamus Small earned the shut out in net.

Game two on Saturday afternoon was a match up with Aurora.  Aurora played a physical game but that didn’t slow our boys down.  It was a back and forth match which ended in a 1-1 tie. The loan goal went to McLelland assisted by Cook. Kevin Chau was the net minder for this nail bitter.

Game three Saturday evening, the last of the four team group play, had Kincardine paired with Wasaga Beach.  This was not our best performance and Wasaga was able to squeak by us 3-2. Goal scores for this match were Jordan Bell and McLelland, assists awarded to Skinner, Vollmer and McFadden.  Small was between the pipes. This ended the pooled play with each of the teams in Kincardine’s pool winning one, loosing one and each a tie. It came down to points and Kincardine squeaked by ending up on top.

Game four on Sunday morning was the semi-final match with Beeton.  This game was definitely the match to watch. Kincardine managed to come out on top 4-3 with goals scored by Jason Dales (Skinner and Derrik Bernath assisting), Bell (Vollmer and McLelland assisting), Bernath unassisted and Skinner (from Vollmer). Cook was awarded the player of the game. Chau stood tall in net.

The final game found Kincardine matched against the undefeated Highland Storm, but they were no match for our Kinucks. We went on to win the game and take the tournament with a final score of 2-0. Goal scorers were Vollmer (Skinner, Bell assisting) and Dales from Bernath.  Small earned the victory in net.
