Goderich Young Canada Week Champions
The Kincardine Legion Pee Wee rep team travelled to Goderich for the Young Canada Week tournament with high hopes.

After taking part in opening ceremonies, the team hit the ice to take on Goderich which proved to be a tough battle.  Scoring for Kincardine was Ethan Skinner and Jordan Bell with the assist on the second goal going to Garrett McFadden.  The final score of the game ended up being 2 to 1 for Kincardine.

 

The second game against Mount Brydges was a lot closer than the 4 to 0 score reflected.  Scoring for Kincardine was Keegan McLelland, Geordie Farrell with 2, and McFadden.  Assists for these goals went to Farrell (2), Chase Ambeau, Shane Vollmer, McFadden, McLelland, and Sam Wilson .

 

Kincardine finished the round robin part of the tournament in first place after their win against Mitchell in their third game by a score of 5 to 0.  Scoring for Kincardine was Skinner (2), Riley Cook, Payton Dunlop, and McLelland.  Assisting on these goals was Derrick Bernath (2), Vollmer (2), Dunlop, and Farrell.

 

For their semi-final game, the Pee Wee team was challenged by Wallaceburg.  Kincardine was able to skate away with a 3 to 1 victory with goals going to Brett Carter, Cook and McFadden.  Assists for these goals went to Dunlop, McLelland, Bernath (2) and Skinner.

 

This win set the stage for the Championship final against St Mary’s. Kincardine was able to bulge the twines twice goals against St. Mary’s with a final score of 2 to 0.  Scoring for Kincardine was Bell and Skinner with assists going to McFadden and Ambeau. 

 

It was a great team effort with each boy getting at least one goal or assist during the tournament and goalies Kevin Chau and Seamus Small getting 3 shutouts in 5 games.  The team walked away undefeated from Goderich Young Canada Week as Pee Wee B Champions, with 16 goals for and 2 goals against.  The coaching staff of Brian Royle, Kyle Boulton and Chris Dunlop want to congratulate the kids for all of their hard work.
