Prestocrest AE Playoffs!!!
submitted by Maria Riggin

What an exciting series the Presto Crest AE Peewee team had with Listowel!

Game 1 took place in Kincardine. Listowel opened the scoring followed by an unassisted goal by Austin Rees.  Listowel answered the call and more by slamming more in .  Listowel, playing an aggressive, offensive game scored 3 additional goals early in the second period and then Kincardine changed their style of play and owned the second half of the game.  Sam Culmer netted one in with assists awarded to Braeden Morgan and Marshall Smith.  Listowel scored.  Culmer with the help of Logan Shewfelt potted his second.   Shewfelt then rang the bell on his own.  Brent McDonald took his turn at scoring with Aidan Calcutt’s assistance.  Listowel managed to slide on in just before the buzzer went.  8-5 Listowel.

Game 2 was hosted by Listowel.  The boys went with their game faces on!  Scott McFarlan opened up the scoring by chiming 2 in, ably assisted by Clint Parker, Calcutt (2) and Kaleb Brough.  Listowel came within one only to have Shewfelt assisted by Calcutt score.  Smith set up Shewfelt for his second in the second and Brough notched his first with the assistance of McFarlan and Evan Brown.  Outstanding play by goalie, Brad Liddle, whose agility is amazing.  Listowel scored again but happily the Kincardine team came home with the win of 5-2.

Game 3 was again in Listowel.  Listowel opened up the scoring and Kincardine finished it for the first period with Shewfelt (Rees assist).  Listowel went ahead in the second and not a minute later, Morgan scored (Shewfelt, McDonald assists) and later the same line scored on Shewfelt’s shot with Morgan’s assistance.  Listowel, had in the meantime potted scored 2.  Brown evened up the game assisted by McFarlan and McDonald.  Early in the third period Listowel went ahead and some might say that the stripes made sure it stayed that way.  Listowel 5-4.

Game 4 was by far the most exhilarating game for the Kincardine team.  With a terrific home town crowd out cheering the Presto Crest Team, the boys came out for a win.  McFarlan was definitely the MVP for the night with a whopping 5 – yes FIVE goals assisted throughout the night by Brown, McDonald, Smith, Calcutt, Riggin and 2 were unassisted.  Calcutt (Shewfelt, McFarlan assisted and Shewfelt unassisted finished the Presto Crest scoring.  Listowel scored 4 – 2 in the first and one each in the second and third.  What made this game so exciting was the energy and verve with which the team played.  Liddle and his defensive core of Smith, Parker, Rees and Riggin were extremely strong and beat Listowel to the puck nearly every time.  Playmakers, Brough and Culmer were unrelentless throughout the night.  It was a team effort and everyone was on their game.  Great to watch and great finish -7-4 Kincardine.

Game 5.  It was a bit flat and Listowel was on McFarlan like fat on bacon.  Listowel scored 3 in the first, two in the second and 1 in the third.  Rees scored Kincardine’s only goal.  6-1 Listowel.  The Presto Crest team demonstrated great sportsmanship and celebrated taking this team to 5 games later that night.  Bring on the next set of opponents!!
