PeeWee AE Playoffs Round Robin...
Submitted by Maria Riggin
The Peewee AE team has been engaged in a flurry of activities as they enter into the final phase of playoff activities.  The team hosted the Howick team on February 21st.

The period started out evenly then, late in the period, while playing short handed, Kincardine opened the scoring when Scott McFarlan put one in on the top shelf where the peanut butter is kept.  The assists were credited to Aidan Calcutt and Kaleb Brough.  2 minutes later, Calcutt drove in a cannonading shot on a Logan Shewfelt rebound.  Early in the second period, Brough passed to McFarlan who stopped the play at point and drove in a blistering shot that found its way in glove side.  Shewfelt put one in top shelf with Brough and Braeden Morgan ably assisting. Austin Rees then broke in alone on his off wing and made the goaltender commit and scored on the long side. With Kincardine playing short-handed, Joel Riggin picked up the puck at the Kincardine net, skated through and shot it upstairs.  Short handed from the circle, Evan Brown made a beautiful pass to set up Shewfelt for his second.  Finishing out the second period, McFarlan scored his hat trick on a Riggin assist.  After a rest period, it was evident that the team was being gentle with the Howick team as some players switched positions and the team was given the “three passes before you shoot rule”.  Despite this, Kincardine went ahead by three more goals; two by Rees completing his hat trick and one by McFarlan.  The assist went to McFarlan, Calcutt and Morgan respectively.  The final score 11-0 for Presto Crest.
February 24th saw the Presto Crest AE team face Tiverton.  By all accounts it was a good, fast paced game.  Kincardine opened the score late in the third period with McFarlan pounding one in on an assist by Morgan and Sam Culmer.  40 seconds later, Brough tossed the puck in with playmaker, Culmer helping out.  With 44 seconds left in the period, Shewfelt got his first of the game assisted by the ever busy Brough and Calcutt.  Despite end to end play and great goaltending by Liddle and the Tiverton goalie, there were no goals until the third period when Shewfelt scored on a nice setup by Brough and Riggin.  Tiverton got on the board late in the period.  4-1 Kincardine.
Kincardine hosted the Goderich AE team on February 26th.  Kincardine opened the scoring late in the first period when McFarlan walked in a pass from Calcutt.  A minute ans a half later with Calcutt and Smith assisting Riggin snuck one in on a wraparound.  Period 2 saw lots of end to end plays but no goals.  A determined Goderich team lit up the scoreboard early in the third.  Shewfelt then sent out a nice pass to McDonald who chipped it in from the slot.  Clint Parker was back in fine form and set up Rees who shot and then Shewfelt knocked in the rebound.  Brown and McDonald assaulted the Sailor’s den with McFarlan letting one fly past the goalie.  Goderich, much to their credit, did not stop and their efforts were rewarded only to have the determined PC boys score three more goals:  Shewfelt from Brown, Calcutt unassisted and Calcutt from McFarlan.  8-2 Kincardine.
The Presto Crest Team drove to Goderich on Friday night.  Goderich opened up the scoring which made our boys pull up their socks.  We came back with 2 quick goals (Brough from Calcutt and Marshall Smith and Shewfelt from Culmer and Riggin) to go ahead 2-1.  Shewfelt, assisted by Calcutt, and Smith assisted by Shewfelt put 2 more in before Goderich scored again which took us into the third up 4-2.  Both teams worked   hard in the second and each picked up a goal (Brent MacDonald assisted by Shewfelt and Calcutt for Presto Crest) making it 5-3 heading into the third. Determination by all players kept them ahead.  Liddle was awesome in net - at one point had 4 Goderich players coming at him with not a Kincardine player to be found and turned them away with an awesome save.  McFarlan from Shewfelt and Brown and Culmer form Shewfelt and Morgan rounded out the scoring.  7-4 Kincardine
