No “Timber” in these Bantams
Written by Ron Sayle

It was a nervous time for the coaching staff of Dennis Howard and PJ Slade as the TIM-BR Mart Bantams squared up for the initial face-off with the Mitchell Meteors on the second game of a back-to-back weekend series. The first game in Mitchell saw the Kincardine squad lose focus and discipline resulting in a steady stream of frustrated Kincardine players to the penalty holding area. The end result saw the home town boys take a good old-fashioned butt kicking to the tune of 8 to 1.

The nerves were quickly calmed as the boys threw a blanket forecheck on the Mitchell squad forcing them on their heels for most of the game.  A welcome call up Keegan McClelland started the scoring In the first with a tip in off a wrister from the point from the stick of Sam Gurbin with the helper going to Dallas Hewitt.  Kincardine’s second came of a near identical play with Dallas Hewitt playing ricochet of a beauty low slapper from Mathew baker set up by hard work in the corner by Garret Satosek. The Second Period saw Dylan Sayle deposit a bullet of a backhand past the frozen Mitchell puck stopper after a courageous display of puck management on the part of his line mates Cody Bowes and Mitch Dickson who were awarded assists on the play. Cody Bowes capped of the scoring in the third with a tap in as a result of a strong cycle and puck position by Sayle and Dickson deep in the Mitchell end.  Outstanding goaltending when called upon on the part of Paul Boyadjian and disciplined hard work at both ends of the rink by Thomas Elliott, David McFarlan, Michael Osadca, Brady Collins and Jacob (The Giant) Hunsburger resulted in the 4 nothing shutout.
