Bantams Shine in Bracebridge
Written by Ron Sayle

Game one of the Bracebridge bantam tournament saw the Kincardine Timbermart Bantams take on a strong Tilsonberg team.  A close checking game kept it a low scoring affair which ended the score tied at two at the end of regulation time.  Overtime saw the both team’s trade chances with Tilsonberg getting the game winner off a bad bounce and a favorable turnover.  Goal scorers for Kincardine were Dylan Sayle and David MacFarlan, with assists going to Cody Bowes and Michael Osadca.

Game Two had the Timbermart bantams on the winning end with a 2-1 victory over a speedy Huntsville team.  The game saw a pretty passing play between Brady Collins and Michael Osadca resulting in a blast from the point finding the back of the net off the stick of Collins.  Kincardine’s second marker saw Mitch Dickson bury a snapper from the top of the hash marks which had the netminder froze in his cage.  The game saw the only penalty shot of the tournament with Jory Norman creating an echoing “Bang” off the glass as his wrister missed the open blocker side.  Game 3 had the boys matched up against New Hamburg; previous meetings between these teams have all been chippy encounters.  Coach Catto had the boys focused and ready to work which resulted in a decisive 6 to nothing score.  Goal scorers for the home squad were Brady Collins, David Macfarlan, Cody Bowes and with his first hat trick of the year going to the  game’s first star Jory Norman, assists to Dallas Hewitt (2) Dickson and Nathan Fohkens with one each. The semi final game saw the boys give a good effort but came up short against a powerful Penetang team losing 3-1, with the lone Kincardine marker going to a hard working Dallas Hewitt with assists going to Norman and Gerrit Satosek.  The early exit was no embarrassment as the team gave a tremendous effort in each game supported by stellar goaltending from Paul Boyadjian and Trevor Ammerman with excellent work in the corners by Jacob Hunsburger and Thomas Elliott supported by yeoman’s work on the blue line by Mathew Baker.  Sam Gurbin and his coast to coast rushes were greatly missed as he is currently out with an upper body injury.
