KINUCKS WIN ST. MARYS TOURNEY
KINUCKS WIN ST. MARYS TOURNEY: The Kincardine Kinucks Midget Rep Girls team travelled to St. Marys to participate in their first tournament of the year this weekend.  In Game One, the Kinucks faced the Kitchener Lady Rangers.  The Kinucks carried the play most of the game, but could not beat the Rangers Goalie until the opening minute of the third period when Marissa Jolley scored from a pass by Kaitlyn McDonell.

The same duo responded 5 minutes later to give Kincardine a 2-0 lead.  Kitchener closed the gap scoring with 5 minutes left in the game, however, Kincardine’s Goalie Katelynn Woodman closed the door to preserve the 2-1 victory.  Game two pitted the Kinucks against the host St. Marys Rock.  It was the Rock that opened the scoring in the first period.  Bailey Regier responded shortly after to tie the game.  St. Marys were the only team to score in the second period.  Midway through the third period with the Kinucks trailing 2-1, Kincardine found the back of the net four times on goals from Amanda Lawrence, Kayla Crouchman, Cayly Bellan and Jolley to give the Kinucks a 5-2 win.  Picking up assists were Jenny Boyadjian (2),  Marissa Jolley (2), Kaitlyn McDonell and Bailey Regier.  In game three versus South Huron Sabres Kincardine scored early and often and walked away with a convincing 6-0 win.  Scoring was Jolley (2), Kate McCallum, Cayly Bellan and Caitlyn Smith.  Assists to Anna McFarlan (2), Mel Davidson, Amanda Lawrence, Jolley and Bellan.  Picking up the shutout was Katelynn Woodman.

The undefeated Kinucks faced the undefeated Mitchell Meteors in the gold medal game.  Due to work and other commitments, the Kinucks entered the game short staffed with only 9 skaters.  In the 1st period of the game Amanda Lawrence scored the first goal on an assist from Cayly Bellan and Marissa Jolley.  The Meteors tied the game shortly after, then it was Amanda Lawrence scoring the eventual winning goal with Marissa Jolley picking up the assist.  Late in the game, Mitchell had several good scoring chances but Centreman Jolley was able to win several key faceoffs in the Kincardine zone enabling the Kinucks to preserve the win and the gold medal.
