On Friday October 17th, the Kincardine Kinucks Midget Girls Rep hockey team opened their regular season with a 4 - 0 win over Howick/Wallace. The evening produced a short bench for Kincardine with 10 lone Kinucks looking enviously at the endless stream of Howick/Wallace girls. At exactly 8:00 p.m., the buzzer sounded and the game began. The Kinucks followed their plays from practice and took the lead with a solo effort by Cayly Bellan ending the first period 1 - 0 for Kincardine.
e second period continued with aggressive play by Kincardine which didn't deter the out-of town team. Anna McFarlan scored with the assist going to Justine Buchler ending second period action at 2 - 0 for the home girls.
After a short break to clear the ice the Kinucks were back ready to close the third on a positive note. With intense action behind both blue lines Kinuck Mel Davidson scored assisted by Caitlyn Smith only to be followed with a goal by Bailey Regier assisted by McFarlan. These two goals as well as the exceptional goal tending by Katelynn Woodman secured a win for the hometown girls.
The winning streak continued on Sunday October 19th with the Kinucks travelling to Ayton to take on the Normanby team. This game concluded in an 8 - 0 win for Kincardine. Goals and assists went to Kayla Crouchman 2G, 3A; Marissa Jolley 2G, 2A; Smith 1G, 1A; Brianna Cooper 1G; Bellan 1G; McFarlan 1G; Regier 2A; and Jennifer Boyadjian 1A.
Rounding out the 2008-09 Kincardine Kinuck Midget Girls Rep hockey team are Amanda Lawrence, Katelyn McCallum, Kaitlyn McDonell, Jenna Rees and Carly Schmidt.
The Kincardine Kinucks Midget Girls Rep hockey team is under the direction of head coach Murray Woodman and assistant coach Rob Regier with team mentor Glen McDonell. The manager is Cathy Smith and trainers are Lori Bellan, Brenda Cooper and Sally McCallum. The team and parents would like to thank the coaches and staff for their time and dedication.
