On returning home from a successful tournament in Orangeville, the Kincardine girls continued to ride a favourable wave. First with a win over Ripley and later over Tiverton. The team was also reclassified to a "B" category.
The Kincardine Kinucks travelled to Ripley on Saturday January 24th to visit the Wolves. Kincardine won this game 4 - 1. Goals and assists as follows: Amanda Lawrence 2G 1A, Marissa Jolley 1G 2A, Kaitlyn McDonell 1G, Cayly Bellan 1A, Jenna Rees 1A, Caitlyn Smith 1A, Carly Schmidt 1A, Anna McFarlan 1A.
On Monday January 26th Kincardine hosted Tiverton. Kincardine won this game 3 - 1. The Kinucks opened the first period with a goal by Jolley assisted by Bellan. Kincardine maintained their lead through the first with the fast capable goal tending of Katelynn Woodman and a little well-timed help by Justine Buchler. A determined Tiverton team managed to tie the game in the second period continuing a fast paced, aggressive game. The third period unfortunately unfolded with the Kincardine goalie Woodman down with an injury and unable to finish the game. Team captain Kayla Crouchman donned the goalie attire and did her best in Woodman's absence. The Kincardine team stepped up their play and produced two goals in the third. The first by Lawrence assisted by Buchler and the second by Jolley assisted by Bellan ending the game 3 - 1 for Kincardine. We wish goalie Woodman a speedy recovery.
The Midget Rep girls will travel to Sarnia February 6 - 8, 2009 to compete in the 11th Annual Women's Silver Stick Tournament. We wish the team "Good Luck".
