Kincardine Hair Connection Atom LL1 Solid Effort vs Tiverton
Kincardine Hair Connection Atom LL1 travelled to Tiverton on Monday, 01Mar2010.  The team was ready for a good outing with a full lineup raring to get to it after watching Team Canada win the Olympic gold medal.

Kincardine played inspired hockey in the first period, trading chances with Tiverton.  Once again, great goaltending by Tyler (#1) kept Kincardine even with Tiverton.  The first period ended a scoreless tie, with end to end action.

A lapse by Kincardine from the opening face-off in the second period allowed Tiverton to get on the scoreboard with less than a minute gone in the period.  Two minutes later, Cameron (#6) held the puck in at the Tiverton blue line, then stick handled in for a shot at net, picked up the rebound for another shot that was stopped, and got a third attempt that he rang off the goal-post.  Martin (#2) blocked a shot and chipped the puck out over the Kincardine blue line for Isaiah (#5) breaking up the middle.  Isaiah’s breakaway was turned aside by a nice save.  With the clock winding down for the second period, Tiverton again scored to end the second period up 0-2.

Kincardine came back strong in the third period, with Ryan (#16), Michael (#13), Payton (#8) and Isaac (#9) forechecking hard and coming back to help the defense out.  Matt (#12) rushed the puck up the ice, helping to put pressure on the Tiverton defense.  Ariel (#11) took charge in front of the Kincardine net, covering opposing forwards.  Brendan (#10) played several one-on-ones in text book fashion, forcing bad angle shots.  At the ten minute mark, Tyler (#1) made a butterfly toe save from a point blank shot in the slot to keep Kincardine close.  Darian (#3) got the puck out of the defensive zone down centre ice and then chased it down, split the defense and rattled a shot off the Tiverton goalie’s mask.  At the six and a half minute mark, Darian (#3) got off a shot, jumped on the rebound and stuffed it through the five hole to make the score 1-2.  A minute later, Kincardine got caught pressing for the equaliser resulting in a Tiverton breakaway that was stopped by Tyler (#1).  A minute later, Tiverton got another chance that found its way into the back of the net.  Kincardine didn’t quit and put sustained pressure on Tiverton for the last two minutes of the game, but could not beat the Tiverton goalie.  The game ended 1-3 for Tiverton, with a superb effort from Kincardine LL1.
