LL#2 Wins B Championship
On Tuesday March 16, the Meridian squad entered the Tiverton Atom tournament.

Eager to prove themselves the team arrived ready to play.  The first game was against season rivals Ripley.  Meridian led for most of the game, but just couldn't hold it together. The team lost 4-2.  Parents commented that the whole team played their best game yet!  Unknown at the time the team picked up valuable tournament points that were key later in the tournament.

The second game was against Bruce Peninsula.  The teams were evenly matched and battled hard.  Brady M put the team ahead in the first period. The line of Tyler D, Josh F and Liam H had several chances but just couldn't net one.  The squad was ahead until late in the second period when the Bruce Peninsula scored to tie up the game.  Liam M kept them in the game by making brilliant saves.  Excellent devensive play by Connor B, Connor D, Julia M and Justyn M was key in holding the opponents at bay.  The game ended in a tie.  With the valuable points earned against Ripley the Meridian team made it into the B finals.

The final game was against Tavistock.  Once again the Meridian squad was full of energy and enthusiasm as they set out for another win!  Julia M moved forward and demonstrated excellent passes.  Georgia F worked tirelessly with linemates Sam C and Austyn M.  Austyn M made several rushes, and had several amazing shots before scoring.  Sam C proved to be in the right place in the right time, not once, but twice netting 2 for his team.  Mark Y scored to the pleasure of his adoring fans in the stands!  Josh F scored to secure the win 5-3.

The team beamed as their fun, hard working season came to an end with a championship medal.
Thanks to coaches Dave, Paul and Darryl for keeping the bench positive through all the games and to all the kids for truly enjoying the season and displaying the true meaning of sportsmanship!!
