Presto Crest Peewee AE Team opens 2nd round with a win over Goderich!!!Peewees open 2nd round with a win!!!
The Presto Crest Peewee Boys AE team played the first game of their second round playoff series against the Goderich Sailors Saturday. The game started fast with both teams skating and passing well, but the goalies were equal to the task, keeping the game scoreless after the first period. The Kinucks got on the board early in the second when Grant Stevens picked up a loose puck in the Goderich end and ripped a shot over the goalies glove. Kincardine jumped to a two goal lead on Stevens’ second goal, assisted by Kaleb Brough and Brendan Murchie. With two in the box, strong penalty killing by Brett Colhoun, Jakob Dunlop, Andrew Leschied, Logan Wolfe and Corey Howse fended off the Goderich attack to hold the two goal lead into the third period. Goderich took advantage of a goal mouth scramble to sneak one past Kinuck netminder Jordon Gauthier at the start of the final period but Gauthier shut the door for the remainder of the game. Andrew Potter picked up an empty net goal to give Kincardine the 3-1 victory. The boys have home and home games against Ripley and a rematch with Goderich this coming week to close out the second round.
