Kincardine Old Stars LL Bantams WOAA Champions!!!
Having won the Maroon Division, Kincardine Oldstars moved on to play the Championship Series against Walkerton

March 19, 2010
With a bit of a slow start, the Bantam Old Stars began the first game of the
Championship round . Walkerton opened up the scoring early in the first period
then with less than a minute left, McDonald picked up the rebound, swept the puck
across the face of the crease so Farrell scooped it in!  With 2 of the Old Stars
sitting in sin bin, Walkerton answered the call.  With their game faces on, the
Old Stars put on the pressure.  Smith passed to captain Jay who shot on the net
and Shewy knocked in the rebound. 2-2 going into the 3rd period.  The Old Stars
then decided that they were going to win the game.  On a power play, Fohkens
skated through the Walkerton team and let the puck fly for K-Town's 3rd goal.
After a tussle at the blueline, Kincardine won possession and Fohkens passed to
Farrell who gave it to McDonald for the point. the final goal for the evening happened
when Shewfelt battled for the puck behind the Walkerton net, shot it forward allowing
Jordan Bell to score.

Final score: Old Stars 5, Walkerton 2

  March 21, 2010
The Davidson Centre was the host to what would be a nailbiter of a game!  The
teams were neck and neck through out the game.  When the dust settled at the end
of the third period, each team had 5 goals!  With this writer's note gone the way
of the Dodo Bird, it can be reported that In the first period Farrell scored
assisted by Swift and McDonell and Fohkens set up McCartney for Kincardine's
second.  The second period saw Shewfelt knock one in assisted by Jordan Bell and
Fohkens lit up the lights assisted by Fair and Calcutt. With exciting end to end
action, Shewfelt knocked in the tie,  ably assisted by Fohkens and McCartney.  The
crowd went wild as the game went into overtime.  With just over 5 minutes on the
clock, Riggin battled for the puck at Walkerton's blueline and sent it over to
Bell who shot it to Shewfelt who then knocked it in for the win!!  6-5 Kincardine
the WOAA Champs.  Upon closer examination of the trophy, it was discovered that
Kincardine has not won the division trophy since 1987!

This has been a fun team to be associated with; the coaching and training was
great, the players were awesome ambassadors for the town and the parents were
supportive and enthusiastic.  The WOAA Championship win was the icing on the cake!
