Kincardine Home Hardware Silver Stick Results!!
KINCARDINE HOME HARDWARE NOVICES MAKE IT TO SEMI-FINALS OF REGIONAL SILVER STICK TOURNAMENT !!

On Monday morning the novices played game one of the Silver Stick against the Goderich Sailors, who had beaten the Kinucks the week prior 7-1 in an exhibition game.

It was not a good start to the morning as the coaching staff learned that Zach Wall was unavailable for the game due to illness.  However the team seemed to rally around one another and played a very aggressive game only to loss 3-2 with Goderich scoring late in the third period to win.  Goal scorers for the Kinucks were Liam Colhoun and Jordan Moulton (who was moved up front in the absence of Wall).  Assists went to Wilson Shipp (2), and Moulton.

Game two was against BCH (Bayfield, Clinton, Hensall) later in the afternoon there was no scoring in the first period.  Zach Wall was back in the line up and scored both goals of the game in the second period.  Assists went to Colhoun (2) and Jordan Beisel.  The Kinucks were able to hold off BCH and gain a 2-1 victory.

The novices third game of the round robin would be on Wednesday against a very strong Tavistock Titan team.  This game featured end to end action.  Wall scored the lone goal of the first period from Shipp, and Darcy Scott.  The Kinucks built a 3 goal lead in the second on goals from Wall and Colhoun.  Assists went to Shipp, Scott, Moulton, and Ethan Petrie.  The team played a perfect 27 minutes but fell asleep for the last 3 minutes as Tavistock scored twice to get within one of tying the game.  Kincardine was able to hold off the final push from the Titans to gain a 3-2 victory.

With a 2-1 record the Kinucks advanced to the semi-finals against a very talented team from Ayr who finished first overall.  The Kinucks kept the game close for the first half but had run out of steam.  The Ayr Flames skated away with a 7-0 win and then went on to beat South Huron in the Championship game 5-3.  The Kinucks would like to congratulate the Ayr Flames and wish them all the best when they attend the International Silver Stick. The coaches and parents would like to congratulate the team on there strong play over the course of the week.

The teams next tournament is in Durham on Saturday, January 15th.
