Bishop Leads Atom Reps Over Listowel Cyclones
Game one of the best of five series started Friday night between the Canadian Tire Atom Reps and the Listowel Cyclones. Listowel Series

Goaltender Jamie Brock kept the Cyclones off the scoreboard thru the first period but the Kinucks could not score despite a lot of chances.

Part way through the second period Bryce McFadden showed great patience and delivered a pass to Jake Colley moving down the right side. Colley crossed the blue line cut to the middle and fired a wrist shot into the back of the net. The second period finish with a one nothing lead for the Kinucks.

Listowel remained determined and snuck a scrambled goal past Brock to tie the game 1-1 early in the third. Kinucks continued to apply pressure and Brock made big saves, but the game finished in a tie. Ten minutes of sudden death faced the two teams.

Kincardine had a great chance after Ryan Thede knocked down a Cyclone shot and went in on a breakaway. Thede made a great move but couldn’t score. With six minutes left in overtime, Jacob Bishop picked up the puck in the neutral zone, crossed the blue line and zipped a wrist shot under the arm of the Cyclone goalie. The celebration was on and Bishop was the hero.

The next day, Listowel traveled to Kincardine for game three. Bishop was still riding the high from the previous day and led the Kinucks to an 8-3 win scoring three goals. Unlike the previous night the Kinucks capatilized on their scoring chances and didn’t stop the constant pressure for three consecutive periods. Thede opened the scoring followed by Kendon Zettle in the first period. Listowel fought back and tied the game at 2-2 in the second. Instead of folding the Kinucks didn’t give up and scored three more goals in the second to finish the period up 5-2. The goal scoring continued into the third with three more goals including Bishops third goal with just 1.4 seconds left.

Goal scorers in the game were the following: Bishop 3, Zettle 2, McFadden, Kuz, and Thede. Brock got his first assist of the year with Brennan Long getting 3, Thede 2, Swift 2, MacArthur, Harrison, Coady, Kuz, adding one.
