Big Weekend Action for Sobey's Peewee Girls
Article written by E. Tomaini

Saturday, November 20th found the Sobeys Peewee Girls taking on the Brussells Bulls in Blyth. Pre-game, it was a hard fought battle amongst the parents jockeying for position under the heater in the stands. On the ice it was another battle. The first period saw the puck spending equal time in the two ends. Brussells came down the ice on a breakaway at 10:47 remaining in the first and managed to be first to score. Great attempts by Georgia Fields and Mackenzie Nashiem couldn't get us on the scoreboard. Early in the second period saw Rainor Kuz denied on a breakaway and many scrambles in front of the Brussells net failed to produce a goal.

Early in the third period saw the Bulls squeak a goal through in a mad scramble in front of our net. At 9:02 Kelsey Padfield put us on the scoreboard but despite their best efforts and solid goaltending the Bulls managed a 2-1 victory. The Kincardine girls played host to the Durham Huskies on Sunday and history was going to repeat itself. The Huskies were heavily outshot with the puck spending most of the game in their end. Half way through the first period Korrine Mangotich put the puck on Hayley Sorbara's stick in front of the net and resulted in Hayley's first of three goals. Hayley was assisted by Korrine on the second goal as well and by Rainor Kuz for the third to finish her hat trick. The third period also saw goals scored by Christen Bell with an assist from Jordy Surridge and Rainor Kuz assisted by Mackenzie Nashiem. Sophia Tomaini was solid in net for her second shutout against the Durham Huskies.
