A Tale of Two Teams: Montgomery Ford Bantam Girls , Bruce Peninsula and Saugeen Shores
On Saturday November 20th 2010 the Montgomery Ford Bantam Girls LL took to the road to face off against the Bruce Peninsula Wild.  It was to prove a fast paced, wide open game with plenty of grit.

The first period of play was scoreless punctuated only by the sound of the puck whistling through the air and rattling off the boards, players and net minders alike.  There wasn't the pleasing sound of twine until Kincardine got on the scoreboard with a goal from Megan Stewart Kemp at 19:03 of the second period.  It took another 17 minutes before Kincardine's Kasey Brindley would score another.  Kincardine took to the ice in the third perod with a two goal lead. At 13:48 the Peninsula Wild got on the scoreboard.  Kincardine responded with another goal; this time from Lara Clubb to re-establish a two point lead.  The Wild were just that - wild for goals and quickly scored three goals in less than 5 minutes to take a 4-3 lead in the closing minutes of play. Kincardine went on to lose the game 4-3.

The next day Kincardine hosted Saugeen Shores.  Kincardine dominated the play throughout the game but, with the exception of an early goal by Megan Stewart Kemp (assisted by Tegan Moore and Rachael Whitney), had a hard time finding the net until the third period.

It wasn't until 12:53 of the third period that the flood gates would open with two goals coming from Elsie Shewfelt assisted by Mercedes Battler and Eden McFarlane.  Nicole McLeod netted the third goal of the period with help from Mercedes Battler and Kasey Brindley at 3:43 of the period.  Ten seconds later Edem McFarlane scored her first goal of the season assisted by Megan Stewart Kemp.  Rachael Whitney would close out the scoring at 1:35 of the third with assists from Tegan Moore and Tara Wood.

The final score of 6-0 was well deserved and as fierce as the forward salvos were so was the play of Kincardine's defensive squads.  The solid play of Nicole McLeod, Jenna Gade, Darby Watterworth, and Tara Wood on defense has been a common theme so far this season.  Of course all of this is nicely rounded out by the play of Amber Howald who has been spectacular between the pipes.
