Co-operators take tough loss in Lucknow
The Co-operators journeyed through the blowing snow to take on Lucknow Saturday.
The Co-operators, undefeated so far in the playoffs hoped to continue their streak as they took to the ice against the staunch Lucknow squad. Lucknow came out strong and hard making it difficult for the Co-operators to clear the puck in the beginning of the game. Towards the end of the first period, a nice attempt by Justin was shut down by Lucknow's goalie as well a a great shot by Max a minute later. In the second period, the Co-operators really picked up their game and there were some nice but regrettably, unsuccessful shots by both Ryan and Max. Justin was on a great skate taking the puck into Lucknow's end when he was taken down by one of their players resulting in a two minute penalty for Lucknow. Although the power play saw some nice shots, none made it past Lucknow's goalie.
With a little over two minutes left in the second, Laura made a fantastic pass from the corner to the front of the net where Max lay in wait to knock in an awesome one-timer. As the third period began the Co-operators continued to tussle with Lucknow for control of the puck. Six minutes into the third, Lucknow was able to sneak one past Everette on a quick turnaround and again a mere five seconds later. The Co-operators battled hard to comeback, but with seven minutes remaining were handed a tripping penalty. Despite some great defensive maneuvers, Lucknow was able to score in front of a crowded net thirty seconds into the penalty. With a little over a minute left in game play, Everette left his net to make room for an extra skater on the ice. Max delivered a great pass that Ryan knocked in with no trouble leaving the final score 3-2 for Lucknow.
