Co-operators take big win in Walkerton
The Co-operators headed to Walkerton Wednesday evening to take on the Walkerton Capitals.
Having yet to defeat the Capitals, the Co-operators came out eager for victory. Some great defense right away from Julia kept the Capitals out of scoring reach as Ryan took the puck to the net for a great attempt. Mid first period a great save by Everette kept the Capitals off the board and less than a minute later Max scored a great goal on a stellar pass from Ariel. Two minutes into the second period, the Capitals managed to score on a rebound tying up the game. Intent on gaining the go ahead, Ariel took a shot on a nice pass from Justin that landed just wide. But a few seconds later, Ryan scored a fantastic goal. A little over two minutes into the third period the Co-operators were handed a penalty for checking. The Capitals hoped to capitalize (no pun intended) on the one man advantage but Justin and Julia's awesome clearing and Matty's great attacking saw the puck remain in the Capital's end during the majority of the penalty kill. Seven minutes into the period Ryan would score his second of the evening leaving the final score 3-1 for the Co-operators.
Way to go Co-operators on a well played game! Special congratulations go the player of the game and lunchbox recipient Ryan for his two awesome goals. Play of the game honours went to Ariel for her hard work, as well a special play of the game honour was given to the entire team for their sensational game play.
