Kincardine Holiday Inn Express Atoms take one in Lucknow
The Kincardine Holiday Inn Express Atom Kinucks traversed the snowing Bruce County roads this past Saturday to take on Lucknow.
Coach Mullen decided to change things up a bit and moved Carson S. from Defence to Centre, a gamble that would pay divides for the Kinucks. Lucknow came out strong with several first period breakaways, but each time they were thwarted by Liam "Brick Wall" M. in goal. Strong defensive efforts were put forward by our defensive core: Payton M.,Conor B., Jessica G. and Colton H-G, each stopping several Lucknow scoring opportunities and clearing the puck from the Kincardine zone. Mark Y & Kaeleigh H came out every shift grinding for the puck, showing tremendous tenacity. Late in the first period Carson S started his scoring spree, taking a feed from Payton M in the Kincardine end and skating thru a slew of Lucknow players to bury a wrist shot from the hash marks. Carson S. would put the puck in the Lucknow net three more times. When asked after the game if he like playing centre, Carson's responded "yep." Could the move be permanent, we'll have to wait and see. Kincardine managed to bank in two more goals with some strong play in front of the Lucknow net, Mark Y and Tyler B each netted goals. A Strong team effort was displayed by the entire team. The Kinucks enjoyed a comfortable lead for most of the game, however Lucknow managed to score 2 goals late in the third, giving Kincardine a 6-3 win.
