Komets Fly High After Win
It was an exciting day on Saturday, February 12 for the Scotia Bank Novice team 2 – also known as the Kincardine Komets. The Komets beat Novice House League team 1 with a score of 3-1.

Most of the action was focused in the first and third periods. The Komets started out strong with a goal in the first 42 seconds by Emily Killin, assisted by Reilly Colhoun. The crowd went wild. Just a mere two minutes later, the Komets scored again, this time by Joanne Page and assisted by both Gordie Reaume and Caydence Gibson. The Komets were up 2-0 with the fans sitting on the edge of their seats.

The second period saw many chances by both sides but no goals. Noah Page and Noah McArthur were on the same line as defensemen and played their positions very well. Cale Gibson demonstrated his smooth skating also as a defensemen as he knocked the puck away from team 1 again and again. Bailey Pierson showed his dedication and commitment and Jacob Sylvester, back after a long vacation down under, showed the fans that he had indeed not forgotten how to skate but instead dug deep for the puck many times. Nathan Williams had some shots on him but deflected each and every one.

There was more action in the third period as team 1 saw a chance and went for it, with Owen Thorn (assisted by Kevin Coady) bringing the score up to 2-1. This was a nail-biting moment for the Komets as they only had a one goal lead at this point. Victory was within their grasp, something they hadn’t had for a few months. They were hungry for it. The Komets fought deep and hard and were able to come up with another goal with only four minutes left to the last period. Reaume passed the puck to Joanne Page who then passed it to Caydence Gibson who scored her very first novice goal. Way to go! There was still tension in the air as the two teams battled it out for the remaining minutes but finally the buzzer sounded and the fans erupted in cheering. The Komets played a great game of hockey.
