KINCARDINE NOVICES SWEEP MINTO IN SECOND ROUND OF PLAYOFFS
KINCARDINE NOVICES SWEEP MINTO IN SECOND ROUND OF PLAYOFFS

The Home Hardware Kinucks played game one in the best of five series on home ice on Tuesday, Feb. 28th.  There opponent was the Minto Mad Dogs, who had played the Kinucks tough all season long.  The Kinucks made a statement in this one and took the game 8-2, however the score was close after two periods with the home team leading 3-1.  Goal scorers were Jordan Moulton (3), Jordan Beisel (3), and Wilson Shipp (2).  Assists went to Cody McLelland (2), Noah Swann (2), Jessica Anderson, Heidi Allen, Beisel, and Shipp.

The Kinucks had won the flip for the extra game in the series and were back at home for game two Saturday afternoon.  The task would be challenging as the Kinucks would suit up without leading scorer Moulton due to the flu.  The team showed its true colours and grinded out a 3-2 victory in the absence of Moulton.  Scoring for the Kinucks were Shipp (2), and Beisel.  Setting up the scoring with assists were Nolan MacKinnon, Beisel, and Shipp.  Noah Swann was very instrumental in the win playing both forward and defence throughout the game.

The Kinucks would head to Clifford on Sunday in an attempt to eliminate the Mad Dogs.  The news in the morning for teammanagement was a good one as Moulton would return to the line up, however another piece of the attack would fall inn as Heide Allen was unable to play.  So once again a short bench ment all would have to dig deep to put this best of five on ice.  The Kinucks wpi;d lead 2-1 after the first period on goals by right winger Shipp.  The Home Hardware Kinucks would save the best period of action for the third, as they would outscore Minto 4-0, and go on to win the game 7-2 and sweep the Mad Dogs!  Scoring on the third period were Beisel (2) to give him the hat trick, Shipp added his second of the game and Finally Darcy "SCOOTER" Scott would find the back of the net on a beauty!  Darcy is leaned on heavily by the squad for his ability to contain other team top offensive players.  Kind of like the BIG "Z" .... Chara of the BLACK & GOLD !!  Scott and the rest of the orange crush defence did a great job of this throughout this series.  Getting assists in the final game of this series were Beisel (2), and Moulton (2).  Moulton although not 100% healty sure added some jam to the line up and was big in the series clincher.

It should be noted once again that the strong play of goaltenders Jared Petrie and Ryan Wheeler where a big part of the Kinucks ability to end this series quickly.  the team will now play the Mitchell Meteors in the CHAMPIONSHIP series.  Kincardine has lost to the Meteors twice this season, but are keen to show they belong in the final round.  Please check the KMHA website for series details as they develop.
