DR. JEKYLL AND HYDE TEAM SHOWS UP.
November 4th, the Kincardine Canadian Tire Atom Rep team entertained the Goderich Sailors for an action filled night of good old hockey.

Everett started in goal and was ready to backstop us to a needed victory. The first line of Griffin, Liam, and Zach won the face off and tore down the wing and fired behind the net, Liam scooped it up, and found Zach, who snapped it between the legs for a 1-0 lead. This started a number of end to end rushes by both teams and some fine chances. Both Everett and the Goderich goalie turned aside numerous shots, but the red light stayed off. Mattie and Brennan made some sweet passes and sent both Ryan and Travis in for hard snappers, only to be denied. At 4:31, Brody was assessed a penalty and our checking line of Liam, Travis, Carson and Brody on defence were brilliant. We were able to keep the pressure on Goderich and after a line change; Zach and Kaleb produced some nice scoring chances, but still 1-0. The Sailors then put on the pressure and blasted the rubber at Everett and after 2 great saves, Brennan pulled the rolling puck off the goal line, Whew! That the way the first ended and we started with the Mr. Hyde. The 2nd period started with great pressure from the Kinucks, With Alyssa, Travis and Zach, pelting the sailor goalie with numerous shots, but still no goal. Ryan, Liam and Griffin kept up the pressure and kept the sailors on dry dock. We made some excellent passes but were unable to produce any goals. That is when Dr. Jekyll showed up and the skates slowed down, races to the puck were lost and we looked a lot tired. Goderich put on the rush and won all the little battles and all the races to the puck. Everett could only do so much and after a face off, a hard point shot found the five hole, 1-1. That’s the way the second period ended. We were hoping that the coaches would wake up the kids, and give them the magic potion to change back to Mr. Hyde. It didn’t quite start out that way and Goderich kept firing the puck at our net and kept winning the battles. Coaches were scratching their heads and needed a change. Brody cleared the puck to a streaking Ryan and he fired a high wrister, stopped again. Zach and Alyssa teamed up and produced a nice wrap around, but that little disk still wouldn’t cross the line. Goderich fired that rubber at Everett and he turned aside puck after puck. Brennan and Mattie made a good clearing play and sent Ryan and Liam in, only to have it go wide. Zach and Liam copied that and the Goderich goalie made an awesome save, keeping the score 1-1. Goderich got a penalty at the 8:00 minute mark and high hopes were had by all to get that go ahead goal. Griffin, Zach, Liam, Carson and Brody were out on the power play and worked it, but no quality shots and Goderich still kept winning the race to the puck. The penalty was killed and DR.JEKYLL returned, with Goderich peppering Everett and keeping us penned in for the next couple minutes. This lead to a deflected shot that made it way past the goal line, and left the Kinucks, trailing 2-1. With only 3 minutes left, we tried to muster up some chances, but the Sailors kept us at bay. We pulled our goalie with just under a minute to go, but were unable to produce a quality scoring chance. Final score, 2-1 for the sailors. The crowd was deflated as well as the boys and girls. We had great stretches and some not so great. Coach Mark and Curtis need that magic potion to keep Mr. Hyde in the game and winning all the battles to the puck, face offs, and in the corners. Let’s get ready for the tournament in Huntsville next weekend, with a sustained effort and show that the Kinucks are a high caliber team. Jeff Renaud
