"Kinucks head into the Dog Pound"
November 5th, the Kincardine Canadian Tire Atom Rep team traveled down to Clinton, and it wasn’t to play the slots or see the horses.

Then Kinucks were in town to take on the BCH Ice Dogs at the new Central Huron Community Complex. The Ice Dogs were coming off of a 5-2 loss to the Saugeen Shores Storm the week before and they were hungry for a win, but not as hungry as the Kinucks who were licking their wounds from a 2-1 loss the night before to Goderich Sailors in their own barn. Even though the Kinucks were on the road, as the game started it felt more and more like home. The roar of the crowd seemed to be all for Kincardine, the Kinucks were lucky to have a whole hoard of Andrews’ at the game; Alyssa had family up to watch her and she would not disappoint. From the opening face off until the final buzzer she was on fire and was instrumental in the Kinucks performance, with 2 goals. The Kinucks started out strong but the first period proved to be pretty evenly matched with both teams scoring within a couple minutes of the buzzer.  Kincardine lit up the new scoreboard first as Liam penetrated into Ice Dog territory and dangled the puck around and past a few dogs tickling the twine and giving the Kinucks the lead and the momentum. That momentum was quickly checked as the Ice Dogs barked back, scoring shortly after. For the rest of the first period the defensive core kept the fast attacking Dogs at bay, with several breakaways thwarted by Carson and Mattie. William stood tall in net thanks to the strong play of Brennan and the defensive core. The Kinuck breakouts were improving with Carson and Mattie moving the puck up well to the forwards with a number of good passes, creating excellent scoring opportunities for Liam, Kendon, and Zach. Brennan, channeling Bobby Orr had several good rushes bringing the puck in deep to the Ice dog end, excellent work by the wingers backing up the streaking defensemen. The second period saw two quick Kincardine goals and the Andrew’s clan go crazy. Liam and Alyssa were driving hard to the net, Liam’s shot was stopped and crashing hard to the net Alyssa poked in the rebound and gave Kincardine the goal and a 2-1 lead. The crowd literally went wild as the Kincardine parents and Andrew’s clan erupted. Just when we thought the decibel level couldn’t any higher, a few minutes later Alyssa received a chip pass in her own end and put on the after burners turning 3 Ice Dogs inside out to put one past the Ice Dog goalie and give Kincardine the 3-1 lead. With a few minutes left in the second period the Ice Dogs, making the most of a 2 on 1, slipped one past William to bring the Ice Dogs within one. The third period saw both teams playing hard, Carson, Brennan, Mattie and Kaleb kept the Dogs in the pound to maintain the lead, with hard forechecking by Liam, Travis, Zach and Kendon, trying to make some magic. But the Kinucks couldn’t get anything into the Ice Dog net. Liam played with a heart the size of a 10 pound hammer and was all over the ice hungry for the puck, a tremendous effort. The game ended with a heartbreaking last second goal, as William saw a trapped puck slide into the net to give the Ice Dogs a 3-3 tie. writen by Jason Stevenson
