Green Machine Rebounds to Start New Year!!!
Written by: Blayne Nicholson

NHL Team 1 vs. Team 2 “The Green Machine”

Greens win 5-3

After finishing the 2011 with 2 losses, the team was looking to rebound in the new year with a better effort and it showed Saturday.  This morning was a meeting of epic proportions, with 1st place “Green Machine” facing off against the 2nd place red team.  With the standing so tight and the margin for error low, the pressure was on these skilled novice vets to put another one in the win column.

The game started with a bang, with the red team taking a breakaway only to have the door shut by Cole Hackett-Price.  The skates sure seemed sharp from the stands.  A puck battles ensued in the corners, as Mack Beisel skated out front he took a feed from Cam Fletcher to open scoring for the Green Machine.  Red replied five minutes later with the tying goal, only to be answered yet again by Mack shortly after.  Second period was hard fought with several break outs and rushes both ways, with time winding down in the second Cam Fletcher motored past the defending unit to find the seven hole and in the net.  This game was very exciting.  Both teams were looking hungry for the win during the third.  Red opened up the period with a tying goal.  One minute later Bryan Nicholson with his first goal found the puck pop out the scrum and whacked it into the back of the net.  Mack Beisel would solidify the hat-trick to make the final score 5-3 in favour of the “Green Machine”.  Recognition shout outs go to Dakota Christie-Wylds for hard skating and a good effort & Bailey Pierson for great pressure, and puck movement.
Bryan Nicholson’s goal turned out to be the game winning goal.

Great work Green Machine.
