Ripley Wolves are Comin' .... to Town
The LL1 squad traveled to its home away from home in Tiverton for a battle against the Black and Green.  With visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads, that elusive first win was at the top of the Christmas list to Sandy Claws.

In the dressing room before the game, Coach Matt, adorned in his finest tie and Maple Leafs lederhosen, made an impassioned speech for the children, all of whom were clearly wired on candy canes and gummy worms.

Hold your ground - hold your ground! Sons of Bruce Power workers  . . . my Team! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. The day may come when the courage of LL1 fails; when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship; but it is not this day - an hour of Ripley foes and shattered sticks, when the Age of Hockey Players comes crashing down - but IT IS NOT THIS DAY!!! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth - I bid you stand!  Oh, and have fun too.

Where he came up with this nonsense, nobody knows.  But Hark the Harold Ballard Sings!  The kids hit the ice with a battle cry and It Was On!

And lo, Ethan opened the scoring with a beautiful rebound strike after a shot from the point by Spencer!  The score held until mid-way through the second when the Ripley team responded with a marker.  Marcelle stonewalled the first shot, on a breakaway, but couldn't prevent the rebound shot.  All tied up heading into the third!

Spencer broke the deadlock with a rocket wrister through a sea of white and black legs, akin to a forest of young maple saplings.  The puck flew true and straight, as a mighty crossbow bolt, lighting up the team for a 2-1 lead.

Would it hold?  YES ... but only because of some stellar defensive play, and a truly scrumptilescent performance by Marcelle in net, regularly stonewalling the Ripley attackers time and again.  Number 12 was looking for multiple goals, even rattling one off our netminders' mask, but Marcelle impassively turned aside at least 20 good scoring attempts.  The frustration of our opponents was palpable!

Brooklyn, inspired by her father's words, notched her first of the year after some hard digging by Kevin in the corner.  The game was finally put out of reach with Ethan's second, a long shot from the point which clearly astonished the Ripley goalie, as it blazed past him low on the waffle pad side.  Emily assisted on this goal, her first of the season!

After the game, more words from Assistant Coach Warren:

We had before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. You ask, what was our policy? I will say: It was to fight with arena, stick and skate, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us.  You ask, what was our aim? I can answer in one word: It was victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be. Oh, and have fun too.

Warren was told to sit down, the happy kids were all promised a vist by Santa Claus, and to all a Good Night.

Fetch me more caffeine!!!  More, Darn It!
