KINCARDINE KINUCK BANTAM LL #2 ARE THE CONSOLATION CHAMPS AT BCH
The Bantam LL #2 team traveled to Clinton for their first tournament of the season.

They met up with the Goderich Sailors in game one Friday night.  The team came out strong in the first period and took a 2-1 lead. The Kinucks extended their lead to 2 goals in the second.   Although things were looking good, the momentum changed sides and Goderich scored 3 unanswered goals in the third. With 3 minutes remaining, the Kinucks found themselves behind by one goal (4-3).  The team would not give up and with 1 minute remaining they tied it up sending it into over time   Goals were scored by Owen Jones, Jacob Dunlop, Marshall VanMilligen and Ben Netzke with assists going to Kyler Twolan, Trent Perrier, Marshall VanMilligen (2), Kurt Dunsbier and Owen Jones (2).  Making for an awesome game, there was no scoring in the 10 minute 4 on 4 sudden death over time which meant that the game was to be decided by a best of 5 shoot out.  During the shoot-out, Jacob Dunlop and Ben Netzke scored to give Kincardine the win.  Ethan Primeau displayed solid goaltending during the game and in the final shoot out.

Game two of the tournament was late Saturday afternoon versus New Hamburg.   Off to a good start in the first period the Kinucks were leading 2-1 going into the second.  New Hamburg team began to gain the momentum and along with some lucky bounces they were able to tie the game at 2-2 sending it into over time once again. Unfortunately, New Hamburg Scored in the 3rd minute and the Kinucks had to settle for a bitter 3-2 defeat.  Goals scored by Trent Perrier and Kurt Dunsbeir with assists going to Marshall VanMilligen, Ben Netzke, Virat Tripathi and Brett Colhoun. Matt Pollock displayed good goal tending. Despite the tough loss, the Kinunks had qualified for the Consolation final.

The Consolation Final was played Sunday morning against the Host BCH Club.  First period goal by Marshall VanMilligen set the tone. BCH was able to even the score at 1-1 early in the second period. The game was tied up (1-1) going into the 3rd period but a great goal from Kurt Dunsbier gave the Kinucks the lead and with solid defensive play, they were able to hold on to become the "Consolation Champs" with a 2-1 win.  Assists went to Kyler Twolan, Brett Colhoun, Jacob Dunlop and Trent Perrier.  Great goaltending from Matt Pollock throughout the game helped solidify the win.

The Coaching Staff were pleased with the effort of all players and congratulated the team on a very successful weekend, they represented Kincardine and the KMHA well.
