Midget LL girls win championship
This past weekend the Kincardine Midget Girls participated in the their first tournament of the season in Ceermore.

The first team the girls faced was against one of the home teams, Clearview South. Despite the girls coming out sluggish and slow, they managed to score late in the third period. The girls fought with penalties throughout the game, and Clearview team managed to capitalize on this, tying the game 1-1. Mercedes Battler scored the lone goal of the game, with assists going to Tayloe Nashiem & Dayle Smith.
The girls came out flying in their second game of the day against the Barrie Sharks. The Sharks were unable to keep up with the squad who showed great passing and back checking throughout the game, and were unable to get passed the skilled Kincardine goalie Meagon McDonald. The score ended with 3-0 in favour of the Kinucks. Emily Simpson, Sarah Catto and Sarah Leydon scored the goals, with assists going to Battler, Catto, and Simpson.
The third game of the tournament saw the Kincardine girls facing Clearview North. The girls had met their biggest challenge yet, and the action was back and forth with both sides displaying their hockey talent. However, late in the second Clearview scored and girls were unable to respond. Clearview walked away from the game with a 1-0 win.
Into the championship game where they would reface Clearview North. Determined to win, the girls came out skating and checking hard. Their hard word paid off as they opened the scoring late inthe first. Excellent goaltending by Meagan McDonald, kept the Clearview team off the scoreboard and the Kinucks were able to add the score to 2 later in the second. With less than a minute remaining in the game, Clearview scored ,but were unable to tie the game. Goals went to Amber Woods & Emily MacLennan with assists going to Racheal Whitney and Dayle Smith.
