Double Victory for Atoms on Weekend
Atom Local League 2 travelled to Ripley on Saturday January 21st.  The Wolves were out for blood but the Kinucks ended up with the win.  Robert McGregor scored the first goal in the first period but Ripley came back quickly to tie it up.  Thomas Nancivick and Michael Primeau showed some defense skills they must have learned at practice, as Ripley could hardly get to Kincardine net.

Cale Gibson slid the second puck in the net in the second period, assisted by McGregor. A few more shots on net by Andrew McDonald, Joanne Page, Trent Pletch and Libby Fletcher but could not get past the goalie. Defensive plays by Aaron Reid and Jackson Alers kept Kincardine in the game.
One more goal by McGregor, assisted by Daniella McKittrick, to secure the win but Ripley came back with a vengence trying to tie it up. Trent Courtney showed his magic moves by stopping several shots in the last few minutes of the game. The score was 3 to 2 with one minute to go in the third period and the Wolves pulled their goalie. Kinucks almost had their 4th goal by Pletch in the open net but the shot was wide. A win of 3 to 2 for the Kincucks!

Ripley travelled back to Kincardine for Sunday's game which was just as tense as the day before. In the first few minutes Gibson's shot trickled in for the first goal, assisted by McGregor. Ripley once again got right back in the game and tied it up. Short a few players, rotating defense line of Primeau, Nancivick and Alers did not get much of a break but played excellent the whole game. Primeau had a couple shots on net but saved by the Wolves goalie. Courtney once again, had everyone in the stands commenting on his great game. The mighty girls forward line of Page, Fletcher and McKittrick, were solid throughout the whole game. Second goal came in the third period by Gibson again, assisted by Pletch, leaving a score of 2 to 1. Way to go Kinucks!
