Final score 5-1 for Team #4
As the first period got underway in the Novice House League Team #3 and
Team #4 matchup, it found Kole McCormick pumped up and ready to go in net for
Team #3.
The game started out fast as Team #3 muscled their way into Team #4’s end with Elijah Moore carrying the puck down the ice and, after some scrambling, Alex Colley-Aquino was able to get control of the puck and succeeded in scoring a great goal. With a Team #4 breakaway resulting in a goal, there was an obvious determination in net minder Kole McCormick as he pulled out all of the stops with a number of fantastic saves. Even as the team rallied and pushed hard, Team #4 was able to round out the first period with two more goals.
The second period began with some great defensive work. Elle Cottrill was there to support McCormick as he made a great save that left the puck hovering in front of the net. Cottrill swept the puck out and to the boards, allowing Team #3 some breathing room. Other great defensive work came from Justin Shields who worked hard time and again to clear the puck out of our zone. Although the period ended with Team #4 adding one to their lead, Team #3 did a great job of keeping the pressure on.
The final period saw more great offensive and defensive work from both teams, with Team #4 able to squeak one more goal by the defensive line before the end of the game. This game saw some great improvements on both the offensive and defensive skills of Team #3. Fantastic effort!!
