Brussells Game review
On Dec 19th, Wed night, the Montgomery Ford midget girls traveled to Brussels to play Blyth/Brussells in a exhibition match for finish our hockey till the 3rd of January. The team happened to be short players, 5 of our 2nd & 3rd year players, but still eager to play the game or hockey ! With only 12 skaters, the team really had to pull it up, as changes of the lines would play a role & lengthen regualr shifts, hoping for not to many penaties ! We knew this team is ranked 1st in their division in the WOAA , which is a level above our own group. After the warm up , the Orange shirts lined up for the 1st period of play & all went well til 54 seconds left ion the 1st, they scored.

The 2nd period was seem to haunt us after 40 seconds they seem to pic off our face off for a break away & scored for a 2-0 lead. Bylth made a change error TMM , allowingg a power play for Jorie Elliott & Malorie Woods to score. With alot of hard work, 31 seconds left in the period, Woods passed to Megan Stewart-Kemp to flip one under the cross bar in tight for a 2-2 tie to start the 3rd period. Same thing, Blyth came out hard off the face off, scored 48 seconds in. We battled back , by now the penalties we even on both teams till mid in the 3rd, Woods & Cassandra Howse were able to get the puck pass the goalie , refs missed it , a goal called back & not awarded. Then another goal scored by blyth to take a 4-2 lead, the Bylth team were really getting dirty with tripping, slashing & body checking ,  even with the lead a small brawl broke out when Kemp confronted the player that tripped Alex Courtney by a slash from the same played that swung the 1st punch at Kemp, returning the favor 2 more Bylth players jumped in , followed by .Simpson & Courtney girls were in a Donnybrook in the corner after  .At this point the Kinucks had a 5 on 3 PP ,  but with Jorie Elliott being body checked into to the boards hurting her hip mid way thru  & Kemp out of the game , really were happy to finish the last 4 minutes & just come home with the 4-2 loss . Needless to say, Kincardines coach Gord Kemp informed the Bylth coach after the game on the ice that our game in the January  will not be played , dont come please as this was our roughest game of the season & dirty ........... like at the start of the article, we went to play hockey, not come home injured, hurt or in tears, furthur more not to fight, yet have to defend ourselves with force to play a exhibition hockey game !!  The coaches were proud of the girls for their efforts !  Next game Jan 3rd. vs Tiverton Thunder @ D/C .
P/S the coaches wore Santa Hats to try to be cheerful too !!!
