Bruce Telecom Bantam LL2 Gets Back on Track
Bruce Telecom Kincardine Bantam LL2 travelled to Walkerton to take on the Capitals on Sunday 13Dec2012 after four poorly played games in which they still somehow managed 2 wins, a tie and a loss.  Kincardine was short-handed this game with only 9 skaters facing Walkerton.

The game started off badly, with Kincardine hemmed in their own end for the majority of the first period.  Alex Pande came up big, making 8 stops and causing many more chances to go wide.  Kincardine only managed four shots on net, with 2 coming from very long range.  Despite being badly out-played, the score was 0-1 going into the second.

After some encouragement from Coach Fohkens between the first and second period, Kincardine caught fire, changing the complexion of the game completely.  With intensity and effort returning to the levels achieved early in the year, Kincardine dominated the second period, out-shooting Walkerton 19 to 7, scoring three goals.  The first came at even strength two minutes into the period with Jacob Gordon finding the net.  The next was a power play marker five minutes later, when Gordon scored with help from Owen Fohkens.  The final tally of the period again came from Gordon, completing the natural hat trick.  Kincardine had many more opportunities and some great Walkerton goal keeping kept the game close.

After the break, the third period started like the first, with Kincardine on the defensive facing a barrage of shots.  Hard work by the defensive trio of Hogan Allen, Brendan Arciszewski and Corbyn Fields gave Pande the chance to make first shot saves stopping about 10 shots before Kincardine’s offense finally got back on track.  With the good defensive play, Walkerton’s frustration resulted in their first third period penalty halfway through the period.  Brady Masur capitalised on the power play during a 2 man advantage, putting Kincardine in the driver’s seat.  Minutes later, Walkerton took another penalty and this time Riley Cherrett took full advantage putting the game out of reach with 5 minutes left.  Walkerton continued taking penalties, resulting in another Cherret goal.  With two minutes left, Cherrett completed his natural hat-trick with a helper from Fohkens to cap off a 7-1 victory.
