Green Machine Continue See-Saw Season…
Green Machine Continue See-Saw Season… Submitted by Mike Hackett

The Novice HL Green Machine continues their roller coaster ride through this season.  While unable to take momentum from a victory to start a winning streak, on the other hand, they’ve bounced back from each loss to win the following weekend.

That trend continued this past weekend, when the guys in green met up with the Black Attack, hoping to avenge the 2-1 loss they suffered two weeks previous.

In what Coach Mullen described as “the best game position-wise we played all year”, the Green Machine used a balance attack and a solid defense to power the squad to a 5-1 victory.

Coach Jeff Renaud’s pre-game pep-talk always includes the number one rule of ‘protect the goalie’ – and that they did – helping Dylan McKechnie, in his debut between the pipes, secure the victory for the Green Machine.

Mitchell Hackett kicked off the scoring with a goal late in the first period to give the Machine a lead they would never relinquish.  Singles followed by Curtis Antle, Chase Anderson, Sarah Mullen and Aidan Renaud.  Thomas Harmsworth, a rear-guard for the Black Attack, would spoil the shutout bid a few minutes into the third period with a Bobby Orr-esque end to end rush.

Strong defensive play up and down the lineup contributed to the win, with special mention to Kaiden Ford, Adam Nasimi, Sean McArthur and Jack Anderson who provided solid blue-line support.  After a spirited Sunday morning practice, the Green Machine are looking to string together another victory this coming weekend, when they face the Red team.

See you at the rink!
