Green Machine Keeps on Rolling...
Submitted by Mike Hackett
With two games this past week, the Green Machine continue to make a statement in the Novice House League ranks.

With a game taking the place of their usual practice, the Green squad renewed their rivalry with the Black Attack in a rare Thursday night tilt in Tiverton.

The two teams combined for six goals in the opening period, and ended the first period knotted at three goals apiece.  Chase Anderson and Aiden Renaud lit up the scoresheet, and the Green Machine had four unanswered goals in the second period en route to a 7-4 victory.  Mitchell Hackett added a single in the winning cause.

Saturday at the Davidson Centre, the Green squad welcomed Devin Holdenby back from the disabled list, and the spark he added to the room lifted the Green Machine to another victory, scoring a 4-2 victory over their rivals in Blue.  Mitchell Hackett started the scoring off with a bank shot off a Blue defenders’ skate, but as Coach Renaud says ‘garbage goals count just as much as the breakaways’.

Missing defender Curtis Antle, the Green Machine used a swarming defense to halt the efforts of Team Blue’s top guns.  Strong play by Sean McArthur, Dylan McKechnie, Eden Anderson, Danica Legge and Sarah Mullen kept the boys and girls in Blue at bay.  When the defense did falter, Jack Anderson was there as the last line of defense for the victory.

Next up for the Green Machine is a return engagement with the Black Attack, this Saturday, February 15th.
