Saturday March 8 the Black Attack went to centre-line to kick-off March break with some hockey fun hosting visitors the Green Machine at the Tiverton Arena.
Charlie Hall Elwood anchored the team stepping into goal as No. 1 position. Relatively new to the crease for the 2013/14 season, Elwood played a great game against the Machine. He felt the pressure as he had have to face down a swift forward line and answered with focus and determination making some great saves. No. 9 Jude Hodgins was the first to find the back of the net in Period 1 with an assist from No. 2 Coby Palmer at 8:01. The Black’s Defence was put to a hard test and had to show their skating skills and strategic play backed by Forward No. 15 Thomas Harmesworth and No. 14 Trent Houghton to thwart the Machine’s aggressive Chase Naderson, Aidan Renaud, Luke Watson, Mitchell Hackett and Devin Haldenoy. The Black’s girl power was out in force as No. 12 Bella Lane showed she was made of some tuff stuff with Ela Jones and No. 7 Addyson Richards who made smart defensive plays. It was only trying so hard that saw Jones benched for 2 in penalty on the Machine. But the Machine also had some bench time during Period 3 when No. 8 saw some bench time as well. Black’s No. 2 Coby Palmer, No. 4 Deven Gouthro, No. 8 Malcolm Lane and No. 5 Dylan Garneau played their positions smart and fast showing speed and passing. Period 3 saw No. 14 Trent Houghton skate hard to give No. 14 Thomas Harmesworth a goal on the Machine. The Machine continues to prove itself a skilled and schooled team but a great game giving the Attack an opportunity to learn how to polish their skills and develop their hockey with final score 2 home and 8 away.
