Scotiabank Atom Girls playing strong despite the final scores.
The Kincardine Scotiabank Atom girls are back in the swing of things and have had a great couple games back from Christmas break.

The Girls faced the undefeated Grey Highlands Shooting Stars on Jan 12th and gave them a run for their money.  Again our defense came on strong, blocking shots and giving the Stars a scoreless first period.  Early in the second, Grey Highlands opening the scoring and was able to snipe the one past Vana.
The Kinucks battled back with some great shots just wide of the Stars net minder. Grey Highlands kept their momentum going and after a few more saves from our goalie they snuck one between the pipes for a final of 2-0 L

Player of the game went to Mackenzie Kuntz for her grit and determination throughout the game.

On Saturday Jan 18th the Scotiabank Girls faced Saugeen Shores for a rematch.

Although the girls were a little nervous about the game they had no fear on the ice. Heidi revved up the team with a breakaway early in the first that was just wide of the Saugeen net.  With 5 minutes to go in the first, our defense had their work cut out for them as the Saugeen offense was strong. The Storm had some heavy traffic in front of our net and lit the lamp.

In the second frame Saugeen kept the Kinucks goalie busy with many shots and three quick goals. The girls kept working, blocking shots and battling hard for the puck. With great team effort and a sweet pass Heidi was robbed again of a breakaway goal.

Early in the third, Heidi was able to beat Saugeen and put one on the board for Kincardine. The Kincardine girls kept working Saugeen  hard along the boards fighting for scoring chances.  But with a great shot top shelf, Saugeen scored again for a final of 5-1L.

Kincardine played a fantastic defensive game. The kept their sticks active, and dug deep to clear the puck. The Kinucks played with grit and determination and had a strong game despite the scoreboard.

Player of the Game went to McKenna Brown who was strong on the boards ,working hard for the puck and keeping her stick active throughout the game.

The girls face AEMHA Ice dogs on Sunday at the Davidson centre.
