Ford Midget girls support South Huron Pink on the Rink annual tournament
This was the 2nd year for the Kincardine Midget girls team to take part in the South Huron Pink on the rink tournament in support of breast cancer. This tournament had various divisions and  location was spread over 4 arenas in Exeter/Dashwood /Lucan/Hensall .Midget  “C” did have the biggest group of 9 teams.  The weather was lucky enough to open up for travel , in fact @ 7:30 am on the Friday morning Hwy# 21 was officially opened all the way. Another good thing taking part in this tournament, it was driveable , to save motel expenses for Kincardine player families. With Montgomery Ford Midget girls playing their 1st game on Friday morning

@ 10:20 am vs Tiverton both teams needed to depart in early enough time. As both teams went on the ice and both teams having almost 3 week lay-off from  Xmas holidays and some ice times and games cancelled do to bad weather conditions in Dec , made this both teams 1st game back in 3 weeks, well as fatigue set in and weak leg noticed on both teams, the game ended up with a close victory 1-0 for Kincardine. Game # 2 was played @ 4:40pm that same in Exeter, vs Lucknow Sailorettes . Well Lucknow brought their game with them and they seem to control the game on us as we still experienced rusty passes and weak legs , was hard to start anything. With Lucknow having a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd period, the Kincardine girls had a good 3rd period as the goalie stoned us on any attempts to score, however we were not out played in the 3rd , just couldn’t score, making a loss 2-0 . Fridays games only were for placement of who you played the next game on Saturday, which was Lambton Shores Predators on Saturday @ 2:00pm. Well we as a team really did miss the 3 week lay-off im afraid and game out short on a 5-1 loss to put us out of the tournament. The Lambton team went on 2 more games after to win the championship banner and deserved it . The Kincardine ladies kept the penalty count low with only 3 for the weekend, also our goal take was way lower than normal, but in defense of that would be our time off and we have been missing our team Captin Rachel  who was absent still recovering from a head concussion from back early Dec , who we despertley  hope will return soon J and fully recovered .  This team functions best with all 17 players present . Sometimes its difficult to write article about game losses or come up with a list of reasons why we lost. The bottom line is we had some fun, tried and will try again soon. Most of the girls still smiled in the dressing room and are all healthy . 1 year ago prior to this tournament Jorie Elliott was diagnoised and had to be hospitalized for her cancer treatments, missed this event last year and the rest of the season. This year she plays with us, I’d say that better than in a hospital bed win or lose  . The coaches are  proud of the girls and will work out the bugs in our practices and future games as we have Silver Stick and Walter Gretzkey tournament coming soon along with playoffs .
